“The fact is that we already have a diversity of spiritual experiences (and nonexperience) within the church; we don’t very often identify it or use language to express and validate it.  With such a strong culture of explicit and identifiable divine communication, leading to confident proclamations of “I know”, those who do not experience God and religion in that way can feel shut out.  We do not have to devalue anyone’s very real and profound spiritual encounters or do away with expressions of authentic spiritual knowledge, but in our collective ministry perhaps we would do well to also acknowledge and find language for the diversity of religious experience already present among us.” p37

Author Patrick Mason, and Dialogue Editor, Boyd Peterson join Dan Wotherspoon and I in this joint Mormon Matters and A Thoughtful Faith conversation about and around Patrick’s recently published book: Planted – Belief and Belonging in an Age of Doubt.
